Marmari Geographical position and features
Marmari is a modern summer seaside resort. It is built on the western coast of Evia only 14 kilometres north-west of Karistos. It is linked to the Eastern coast of Attiki by ferry boat. In Winter it is a quiet, picturesque fishing village, but in the summer it becomes one of the most frequented tourist centres of the island. The windmills which are found on the hill tops above. Marmari remind the visitor of the very frequent sea brezes and create a unique atmosphetre of movement, sounds and changing colours. Very close to the coast of Marmari, there lies the group of islands, Petaloi which are separated by narrow channels from the land. |
